Volvo Cars now Opens Dealership in Ahemdabad


Swedish automaker Volvo which has been struggling to sell cars in the country, is now focusing on dealer network expansion, the company is entering untouched markets to grow. The company has yesterday opened a new dealership in Ahemdabad, Gujarat. The company which could manage to sell around 400 units in six months (April-Nov2012), is aiming to sell over 1500 units in the year 2013.Showing its confidence in Gujarat, the company said in a statement,"Gujarat is an important market as it is considered to be one of the most affluent states in India.... It is also an automobile hub and hence its its imperative to make presence felt,"

The dealership is given to 'Autoboots', co-owned by Arvind and Dhaval Thakkar, who are already selling Mahindra & Mahindra in the city through Shital Motors Private Limited. Arvind Thakkar expects to sell 250 units despite the slowdown in the market. "We are targeting realtors, diamond merchants and industrialists as potential customers," said Arvind Thakkar. Volvo Cars MD, Tomas Ernber believes that the Indian luxury car market will grow at 10-15% in 2013, and the company aims to record a growth of 50% in the same period.
Volvo that sells only four cars in India currently, is now planning to launch the V40 Crossover in India by March 2013, and will also give facelift to its other two cars Volvo S60 and S80 in India.

Tata Nano 800cc Launching in 2013


Indian auto major, Tata Motors that launched the world's cheapest car, Nano back in 2009 is now working on a 800cc version of the car to position it against the likes of Alto 800, Eon and others. And like we already reported, the company is also working on a smaller diesel engine to be fitted in the car. And if it happens on time, Tata Nano would be the first entry level vehicle with a diesel heart in India.People closely associated with the project say that the all new Nano might come in next 12 months with an expected price tag of Rs 2.4 lakh for the base petrol version. Some Industry analyst believes that the diesel option will be the right move for the company. However, Tata Nano 624cc version which has not been doing as good in terms of sales as the company expected, will still be there, as per the company officials. On the other hand, some industry experts expressed their doubts on the future of 800cc version, as the segment is dominated by players like Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai.

Speaking to PTI, Tata Group Chairman expressed his concern on the weakening sales performance of the Nano,"We were not prepared to market the car as we should have. I think that has a lot to do with the fact that momentum got lost," he said.
Explaining why Tata Nano could not realise its full potential, he said that transfer issue, insufficient advertisement and dealership network were the major reasons behind the loss of momentum. But he further clarified that all these issues are now being addressed, and the company expects to succeed this time. He also said that the product is now three-four years old, so refreshing the product has become a necessity.

Mercedes-Benz launches the C-Class at Rs 29.9 lakhs and E-Class Sport Edition at Rs. 39.9 Lakhs in india


Mercedes-Benz India today launched a Sport Edition of its flagship sedans the C-Class and the E-Class. The Sport Edition of the C-Class 220 CDI and the E-Class 220 CDI Sport Edition was launched by Mr. Peter Honegg, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India and Mr. Debashis Mitra, Director, Sales & Marketing, Mercedes-Benz India.

The C-Class and the E-Class flagships sedans have been Mercedes-Benz India’s highest selling luxury cars in India. The C-Class sedan known for its performance and driving dynamics has sold close to 16,000 units in the Indian market since its introduction. The E-Class sedan that sets benchmark in luxury segment has sold more than 21,000 units till date. Mahindra’s Rs 1,800-crore testing facility faces bureaucratic delays


Mahindra’s ambitious plan to establish a 1,800-crore testing facility at Cheyyar in Tamil Nadu has been delayed as the government has not yet allotted the requested 400 acres of land. The delay has impacted Mahindra’s investment plans of establishing a Rs 4,000-crore car manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu.
Currently, M&M is using its make-shift testing facility at Mahindra World City, 40 kms away from Chennai. Unfortunately, this testing facility is inadequate for Mahindra’s future plans and products.
Mahindra signed an MOU with Tamil Nadu government in early 2011 and asked for 400 acres of land. Of the 400 acres, 150 acres was allocated for the testing facility and the remaining for the manufacturing unit. Mahindra planned to invest Rs 1,800 crores in a span of seven months starting from 2011.

Mahindra says that because of these ‘procedural delays’, the automaker is holding back on future investments but it is hopeful that the government will allocate the land soon.
This new facility will be responsible for Mahindra’s small car ambitions. Codenamed The C-101 and S-101, these new small cars will be Mahindra’s answer to Maruti Suzuki in India. Mahindra is also developing small petrol and diesel engines with the help of its ally SsangYong for these new small cars.

Audi Announces Revised Prices of all its Cars in India


After announcing the price hike earlier due to rising input cost, Audi India has today disclosed the details of increase in prices of its model range available in India. The price increase would range between INR 59,000 to INR 369,000 (ex-showroom Delhi) across the model range from January 1, 2013.“As we have stated earlier, the overall market scenario is challenging. The rise in input cost, depreciating rupee as well as continuous increase in fuel prices have made us re-evaluate our pricing strategy in India and increase the prices of our entire model range.

 However, we are offering our customers customized and innovative finance options from Audi Finance which will make their purchase more attractive.” said Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India.“In spite of the challenges, Audi is the growth driver of the luxury car market in India. Our company is also growing from strength to strength with 24 dealerships - the most recent one being Audi Ahmedabad. We have already surpassed the 2012 sales target of 8000 units even before the year comes to an end”, added Mr. Perschke.
Audi displayed stellar performance in November by crossing its sales target of 8000 units for 2012. The luxury carmaker registered a total sale of 805 units in November 2012, a strong growth of 89 percent over the same period last year (November 2011: 425 units). Audi recorded a 58 percent growth rate YTD with 8072 units sold from January to November 2012. (Jan-November 2011: 5117 units).Prices have been revised across the Audi India model range. Maruti Suzuki Ritz Automatic Launch in January 2013

Maruti Suzuki that had disclosed all the information about the upcoming Ritz AT , has now revelead its price on its official website. Maruti Suzuki India has now confirmed that both the metallic and non-metallic paint versions of the Ritz AT will cost Rs 6.51 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). And like we mentioned earlier, the automatic version of the Ritz has been made available on VXi Trim only, but if you look at the price difference between the VXi MT and VXi AT, it's about Rs 1.5 lakh. 

Now when all the information are out, the Ritz AT will be on sale from January onwards.Maruti Suzuki Ritz AT houses the existing 1.2-litre petrol engine and has the similar four-speed automatic gearbox used in the automatic versions of the A-Star and the Swift Dzire. Positioned against the other B-segment Cars including Honda Brio automatic and Hyundai i10 automatic, this is certainly more expensive product than other two, but the brand name MSI is certainly gives it the competitive edge.But when you compare all three vehicles, the Brio AT has the most advanced automatic transmission system, and offers the best-in-class fuel economy. So, it will interesting to see the battle between these two truly good cars. Except the gearbox, no other changes have been made in the car. The car will be coming in three new colours- Breeze Bue, Granite Grey and Mystique Red.
